Bergamot Essential Oil Bergamot Essential Oil

Citrus bergamia

Botanical Source:

Peel of fruit, Italy

Physical and Psychological Effects:

This oil is well known for its uplifting effect on the mind; useful for anxiety or when you are feeling depressed. Very cheerful aroma, with antiseptic and antifungal qualities. The crisp aroma of the beloved Bergamot wafts through the Southern Italian countryside. There, bergamot is grown and distilled. They drink the pulp for digestive issues and to lower cholesterol. The essential oil is used for various reasons including household cleaning, aromatic ambiance, and emotional balance.

Blends Well With:

Black pepper, the chamomiles, clarysage, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, juniper, lavender, orange, rosemary

Top note. A cross between a sweet, fruity tone to warm and spicy floral.

We love to add about 10 drops of bergamot directly onto ceramic floors when mopping. The home always ends up smelling delightful and 'feels' so clean.

Cautions: May irritate the skin. Not to be applied to the skin before exposure to the sun. Bergamot contains bergaptene, which is known to be phototoxic - increases the effect of sunlight. Avoid direct exposure to the sun or tanning booths for 12 hours after application.
